NTY 12.15.08

I did today's NY Times Crossword puzzle tonight, anticipating I wont have a moment to breath (or do the puzzle) tomorrow at work. Yes, my boss is nice enough to let me do the puzzle at work if there is nothing to do. This all started because my other boss (who no longer works there) used to do the puzzles on his train ride in to work, and some times I would either photocopy his puzzles, or if they were later in the week puzzles, I'd see if I could fill in any answers.

Regardless, the theme today seemed so much like today's Sunday puzzle, that it seemed easy. Regardless, it was really easy until I got up to the president after Grant, and I had H-Y-S and I thought I had a booboo. Then Wikipedia told me I was right.

time: 13:50. well, at least I finished it, eh?

So, I checked my bank account today, because I knew that payroll was put in there tonight, plus, I was told that we got our holiday bonus in there is well....and I actually laughed with giddiness because a) I never expected that big of a bonus, and b) I had an additional $200 in over time (which doesn't include this weeks 10 hours) so I just feel stupid rich. I'm afraid that when I check tomorrow it'll be an error and it wont be there anymore.

Cheap Chinese food for dinner! Hurray!

Mookie + New Computer

I went to Macy's in Herald Square today (bad idea) and I didn't find one pair of boots that I liked. FAIL!

In the past two days I've worked 21.75 hours, and I am kind of scared to see what tomorrow willl be like, but hey, at least tomorrow is Friday. Right?

MIA

So, I have sort of been MIA. Work has been really busy, and by the time I get home I don't even bother touching my laptop. Speaking of, new laptop should be here Tues the latest! Hurrahhh! It's gone from Shanghai, to Anchorage, to Newark. Well.

I think I've surprised myself and taking a liking to Bally's. The locker rooms are still kind of ick, but I'm hoping the one on 6th ave is nice enough to where I can actually shower there before work if I want/need to.

Yes, this is how exciting my life has been. Working tons of OT and going to the gym. Life with out Bear being here is.....empty to say the least. I have completely taken the queen sized bed over. His side has become the office where I knit and use the laptop.

Last night I had some sort of weird stomach issue, so I never ate dinner, and I'm pretty hungry right now, but I have no idea what sort of breakfast you're supposed to eat after having a night like I did last night. I will (begrudgingly) not have any coffee, but is it OK to have eggs and toast?

Bally's

So today was my first work out at Bally's (as a part of their free two week guest pass) It was good. I'm not 100% into the Sheepshead Bay location, but when I see how cheap it is, it really makes me wish I hadn't spent the past two years paying $90 a month for NYSC.

There were no evening classes today, so there were random people using the studio to do random things. There was this one woman ballroom dancing, by herself, and I was insanely jealous, because she was quite beautiful, and it was obvious she had so much confidence and she was not embarrassed or self conscious in the least.

But don't let that fool you. I've seen enough old lady boobies in the locker room today to last me the rest of my life.

Black Friday

So far I have spent about $700 (a new laptop(!!!!!!) and two pairs of jeans) I am so, so excited about getting a new laptop, the one I'm using now is about 5 years old, and it's pretty outdated. I'm scared about Vista, though I know I have my XP disc somewhere so I can always reinstall that shizzle.
Hopefully later I will try out Bally's, and maybe head into park slope to get some yarn! Oh, did I mention today is payday? Hellz yes.

Have I not mentioned my Thanksgiving? Yeah. Delicious food (if I may pat myself on the back for a moment) but totally ridiculous. It's become such a non holiday for us. My mother didn't cook anything, save a piece of fish for herself, and our dinners weren't even ready at the same time so there was no eating at the table together. Oh well. Pumpkin cheesecake = new holiday staple.

Also, Steve Jobs, a $51 discount on a $1,199 iMac? Are you trying to insult us? (Don't even get me started on a $21 discount on a $399 iPod Touch...) Tsk. Tsk. Tsk.

24 MPH winds coming out of the WNW

It's really cold out at 4:19am. Though, no colder then it was out at last night at 10pm. I ran all the way home from the train station (in Uggs) which was actually a great idea, though twice my knee asked me, Really? I mean, Really??

Ken has gone down south to work, and subsequently he'll be gone for Thanksgiving as well. The point nearly drains me of all the enthusiasm I had for Thanksgiving. It's not a particularly happy holiday in my house. It's just my mother and I, with all of our various desserts and vegetarian side-dishes. I guess I'll cook up some assorted turkey parts for myself. I really have nothing planned besides pumpkin cheesecake with gingersnap crust (thank Bon appetit magazine for that!)

I ate a disgusting combination of foods last night, and topped off with two Ms.Fields cookies, my stomach is not too happy.

The battery on my laptop is slowly, painfully dying on me.

True Blood really sucks.

I made a joke! But no, really, this show is terrible. I'm waiting for my rice to finish cooking, and my mother has it on.

Lady: I was broke, what was I going to do? He offered me $1,000 to bite me. What? Was I going to say no?

EErrraahhh!!

Are you OK, ok?

I think I've been asked this question at least four times this week. Kenneth is back in GA until the 13th. I think I'm handling it like a well balanced human being. (which I think surprised myself) I was feeling alright until about Thursday, when my mind said "One week! Hurray!" and now I am thinking about the 13th a lot more than I was. The lack of Bear definitely leaves a hole in my days and nights.

But, in other things. Today is a gym day (running on the treadmill, and maybe some sauna time afterwards :D) , grocery shopping/cooking, some cleaning, some knitting later, and well, who knows.

I am in no rush today, everything is being done leisurely, and for some reason I find that very comforting today.

Hello Mr.President!!

Oh. my. god. When they showed Obama projecting to win Ca and Wa, and his number jumped to 283, little tears formed in my eyes. (I am not embarrassed to admit this!) I can say, I am actually excited about a president. I am sooo soo ready for this country to move on from eight years with Bush. Now it actually feels like in a few months there might be some sort of hope for this country, the light is much nearer then we think. It's almost over!

But wait, apparently Proposition 8 in Ca was passed. Nevermind.

Regardless. Watch out D.C, there's a new(well, sort of) man in town!

Easy Mondays, gym, new knitting, and a brief vacation

Today seems like it will turn out much better then I had anticipated. I finished Monday's (very) easy NY Times crossword puzzle, and I went to the gym. Spent an hour on the elliptical machine and pretty much kicked it's ass. Okay, Okay, I'll admit it. I missed going to the gym. I think tomorrow I will try and do some running after work.

Hopefully today I will stop off at Knit NYC (my favorite knitting store) to pick up some yarn for a "Lace ribbon scarf" pattern that's on knitty.com. Then I'll go home and do massive amounts of cleaning and laundry.

Bear is gone until the 13th, and a queen sized bed just seems much, much too large for just one.

Bye-Bye NYSC

So, I finally did it. After 2+ years, I quit the NYSC. I am not really sad...my membership has been on freeze since Sept, so effectively, I haven't been to the gym in almost two months. I get charged for most of November, so I'll go most of then, and then hopefully make the switch over to the YMCA! Like the exclamation point says, I'm actually kind of excited. I used to go to the Vanderbuilt YMCA years ago and it was such a nice, non-busy, laid back place. Maybe I'll actually use the indoor pool. Maybe.

Regardless, I really need to get my butt back into gear!

Two cups of coffee on an empty stomach

So I  still have a bruise on my arm from last week's (or rather, the week before lasts) blood drawing, and two days ago I smashed my elbow into a doorknob , which is resulting in a nice purple mass and hardness on the side of my elbow. I never used to bruise so easily.

I haven't been hungry this morning, which is pretty odd, but I have had my usual two cups of am coffee, which has seemed to make me somewhat jittery. I feel a little anxious, a little irritable, a little bored. I want to go take photographs of somewhere/thing interesting this weekend. Slowly, we're falling into winter, and I can't wait for it to pass already.

The giant soon to be bruise

It has been a long, long time since I've had to go to the doctors, and an even longer time since i've had to get blood work done. I don't know if it was me, or the nurse, but....my.arm.fucking.hurts. I can't fully extend/bend my arm, and I am anticipating an awesomely blue/purple hued bruise on my arm for tomorrow.

Bored at work = First Post!!

For some dubious reason I logged into Facebook at work, where Marissa linked me to her Blog, so, I am bored, and thought that maybe creating a blog would be productive. MAYBE! My Live Journal is nearly dead, but I think maybe this will breathe new life into my nearly-non-existent-blogging.

Tonight is a run night, with Bear no less! Not really sure how far we're going to go, I'd like to get 2.5mi tonight, and then hopefully Friday I can get a long 3 - 4mi in!
